Biles also earned bronze medals in balance beam as well as floor, all-around, and vault. Biles was part of the United States team known as the "Final Five". But, Biles pulled out of most of the contest due to her struggles with "the twisties", which is a temporary loss in balance awareness in the air. She eventually won a silver medal with the US team, and a bronze medal on the balance beam. She was praised for the partial withdrawal she made, her perseverance and dedication to safety, mental, and physical health. She has also been a five-time World all around champion (2013-15 and 2018-19) as well as five-time World floor exercises champion (2013-15 and 2018-19) Three-time World balance beam champion (2014-15 2019, 2019) and two-time World vault champion (1918-19) 2021), seven-time United States all-around champ (2013-16, 2018-19, 2021) and a member of the gold medal-winning American team at the 2014 2015, 2014 and 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics championships. Biles won her 24thplace and 25th, both gold, at Stuttgart's 2019 competition. [8] She holds the record for having the highest number of all-around World titles (5). She is the sixth woman to win an individual all-around title both at the World Championships and the Olympics as well as the first gymnast since Lilia Podkopayeva in 1996 to hold both titles simultaneously. She is the 10th American female gymnast, and the first American female gymnast to be awarded a World medal for every event and was also the first female gymnast since Daniela Silivas (1988), to earn a medal at every Olympic Games or World Championships. Biles was born on 14 March, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the fourth of her siblings. Shanon Biles, her birth mother, was unable to care for Simone and her other children, Adria, Ashley, or Tevin. All four children were placed in foster care and out. After finding out that Shanon's children were being cared for in foster homes, Ron Biles (Biles' maternal grandfather) and Nellie Cayetano Biles (his second wife), began temporarily caring for Shanon in Spring, Texas. In 2003, the couple had officially adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Shanon's aunt is Ron's sister. Harriet, adopted the two oldest children.
