Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born South London, England into an ethnically diverse family. Her mother is English and her father Nigerian. Her family was raised in a council estate in the south of London. At the age 14, she attended The Brit School. She went to an academy called the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in which she earned an BA in acting. During her time at the academy, she performed in several stage productions such as The King Henry V playing Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe began her career as an actor with the film Storm Damage. Since then, she's appeared as a guest in Teachers, Doctors, Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her first role in a film was Woody Allen's 2007 Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. In the following year, she played Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally, she starred in Trexx as Ollie and six episodes in Flipside. In 2008, Madekwe landed Bambi, the lead role in ITV2's show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was a star in 2008's comedy How to Alienate and Lose Friends. Her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing or Roy Williams as well as Flight Path of David Watson.
Madekwe debuted in the US by presenting The Beautiful Life. The drama show ran at The CW for only two episodes, before it was ended. Ashley Davenport was her role in the ABC drama Revenge. The departure of Madekwe from the show was confirmed in May 2013. After two years as the main character she made a guest performance in the first episode of season 3. The actress played Tituba on the television series Salem from 2014 to 2016. Madekwe married her long-time lover, Iddo. Apart from Secret Diary of a Call Girl they also appeared together on Salem and Iddo Goldberg had an appearance with her on that TV show.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario and was a part of a large family. She joined her parents, Roy and Patty and four older brothers -Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's brothers were athletic and played baseball during summers and hockey in the winter. Ashley was not a walker, but she danced. When she was two and half she discovered Baby Ballet. This was the beginning of Ashley's passion for dance. Ashley competed in ballet, tap and jazz at the top divisions. She also won the top awards for soloists in every important dance competitions including International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
